Pictures: Remodeling - Jack & Jill Bathroom Carpet Removal and Tile (Unfinished Work)
Sean Thompson of Professional Home Renovations LLC ripped out the carpet in both my son and daughter's bathroom and put down hardie backerboard to prepare the surfaces for tile; this was done right. Eli Calderon of Southwest Southern Tile Inc. who was working under Sean Thompson laid the tile I picked up instead of the contractor supplying as previously discussed. Eli placed a thin layer of thinset under each tile and spaced each tile accordingly. The mistakes shown in the pictures below were of a contractor who informed me he knew what he was doing and spoke a good game and the tile guy doing a rush job and not being careful. I checked the job before completion, made my comments to Eli to fix the grout around several tiles, never noticed the crack tile in my son's bathroom until after the job was completed; Sean took the tile guy's word for it instead of believing the customer. I also reiterated to Eli to put seal down in both bathrooms as these rooms would be used very soon. I also wanted to avoid moisture and stains to the previously laid tile so I reiterated to Eli to put seal down in both bathrooms as these rooms would be used right away upon drying time. Below are pictures of the rushed job Sean and Eli did. To date, this work is outstanding and another skilled tile guy will need to fix the mistakes these two left.
Sons bathroom leading into bathroom: metal "silver" bar was placed against carpet instead of next to tile therefore, cracking occurred due to wrong material used. Grout will need removed and acrylic silicone will need to be added which will give flexibility to the area so when pressure is applied i.e. walking it will give; if you left grout her continued cracking would occur.
